P. & T. DEMANDS

BRANCH RESOLUTIONS. Bx TbUGBAFK.— P<»»« Asst-CTHTTOW. Nelson, April 30. The Nelson section of the Post and Telegraph Association has passed the following resolution: —“While opposed to any suggestion of direct action, we strongly condemn the action of the Postmaster-General in refusing the request for further salary adjustments until the railway dispute is settled- We urge the executive to negotiate with the Government to set up a Commission to end the deadlock, the board to. consist of three members, one nominated by the service, one by the Government, and the chairman to be mutually agreed upon.”

Whangarel, April 80. The Whangnrei subsection of the P. and T. Officers’ Association, at a largely-attended meeting, unanimously adopted a resolution in favour of the salaries scale proposed by the executive, which would produce the 1914 living standard, and pledged themselves to support the executive in any action deemed advisable. The meeting also viewed with alarm “the Minister’s treatment of the executive, which, while using every constitutional means to obtain justice, had been absolutely ignored as far as the present schedule was concerned.”
