INFECTIOUS DISEASES
DECREASE FOR THE WEEK There is a substantial falling off in the number of infectious diseases notified in the Wellington health district for the week ended at noon yesterday. No cases of tuberculosis, pneumonic influenza, or pneumonia were reported, and puerperal septicaemia and enteric fever each showed a decrease. Diphtheria and scarlet fever, however, had increased by one case each. The returns from the various hospital districts were as under:— Cook: Diphtheria, 3. Hawke’s Bay: Scarlet fever, 1; diphtheria, 3; enteric fever, 2; puerperal septicaemia, 1; erysipelas, 1. Wainawa: Scarlet feyer, 2; enteric fever, 1. Taranaki: Diphtheria, 3. Hawcra: Diphtheria, 4. Wanganui: Scarlet fever, 2. Palmerston North: Diphtheria, 6. Wellington: Scarlet fever, 2; diphtheria, 6; puerperal septicaemia 2. Wairarapa: Scarlet fever, 1; diphtheria, I. Nelson: Diphtheria, 1.
