DISORDERLY SCENES
IN DRESDEN STATE THEATRE NATIONALISTS OBJECT TO COMMUNIST’S PLAY London, January 20. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” says:—“There were disorderly scenes in the State Theatre at Dresden on the first performance of Ernest Toller’s ‘Tragedy of Ginkerman.’ “Toller, who is a Commpnist, was sentenced to a lengthy term of imprisonment for participating in thio Soviet rising in Munich in 1919, when he acted as one of the leaders of the revolutionaries. “Several blocks of seats in tho theatre were booked in advance and occupied by Nationalists specially sent to howl down the play, which they did. The police were called in. A freo fight followed, and forty were arrested. The Nationalists are asking the Government to prevent the reproduction of the play on the ground that it is calculated to appeal to the lowest in rtincts and outrage the religious feelings of every Nationalist.” —“The Times.”
