A WINTER CARNIVAL

IDEA TO BE PURSUED It is understood that the carnival committee have definitely decided to hold a week’s carnival in Wellington in connection with the winter race meeting in July. This is always a g"*’ week in Wellington, and it is considered that it would not take a very great effort to make it a real, carnival week. Towards this tho Wellington Racing Club is willing to enter into tho spirit of the occasion by providing an extra day’s sport in aid of the carnival fund. It is proposed that on tho days between the races there should be important football tournaments, golf matches, and possibly a bright industrial exhibition. Another proposal is that the Town Hall should be secured. for the week (when not otherwise booked), so that there could be held a permanent joy jazz for the people. Whether that can be arranged with all the decorative work in connection with tho Race Ball and the Savage Club’s ladies’ night, has still to bo gone into.
