CAR CROSSES BRIDGE ON TWO WHEELS pr Tblegbaph.—pbesb association. Dannevirke, April 16. A rath<ir sensational motor mishap occurred early on Sunday morning, when a car containing Ivan L. Knight (the young airman who was in the recent forced landing at New Brighton). and L. Cowan, was proceeding south from Dannevirke. and crashed into the side ■of a bridge in Rawhiti Street. The car stripped the whole of tho side of its protecting rails, and traversed the structure with two wheels on it and two wheels over the edge. The bridge is 30 feet long over a creek 30 feet below, and but for the. outside wheels bumping the projecting, stay planks the car must have toppled over. It went a couple of chains beyond the bridge before it was pulled up. It then caught fire. Neither of tho occupants /was hurt, but the car was extensively damaged.
