BROKEN AGAIN

AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON MOTOR RECORD Messrs. P. Seabrook and W. Sinton, both of Auckland, in a six-cjlinder Jewett car, yesterday established a new record for the Auckland to Wellington overland trip. The time taken was 14 hours 58 minutes—27 minutes less than the previous record time of 15 hours 25 minutes, made a few weeks ago. They left Auckland at 3 a.m. and arrived in Wellington at 5.58 p.m. The journey was made in fine weather, and the roads were in good order except in two places. There was only one mechanical mishap, and that was slight: the benzine pipe became detached from the vacuum tank at Porirua.

An incident occurred nt Hawera to break the monotony of a long ride, when a constable had something to say about speeding round corners. The intermediate towns were reached at the following times: —Te Kuiti, 7.38 a.m. ; Hawera, 12.45 p.m.; Wanganui, 2.23 p.m.
