SYDNEY TOURNAMENT WINS BY NEW ZEALANDERS (Rec. March 20, 7.20 p.m.) Sydney, March 20. The New Zealand tennis team won first heats in the City ot Sydney tournament to-day against the following opponents, France alone encountering serious opposition:— Wallace beat Sims, 6—2, 6 —3, 6 —l. Robson beat Goodman, 6 —3. 6 —l, 6—4. Ollivier beat Illingworth, 6 —l, 6 —l, 6—l.

France beat Pike, 4 —6. 6 —3, 6 —3, 5—7, 10—8. Sims beat North, 6—o, 6 —o, 6—l.

Peacock received a forfeit, and with Ollivier also received a forfeit in the doubles.

Results of play in the afternoon were:—

Robson beat North, 6 —2, 6 —3, 2—6 6—l.

Ollivier beat Jordtm, 6 —l, 6—4. 6—o. '

Peach beat Wallace, 6—l, 6 —l. 6—l.

Peacock and Ollivier beat Bennington and Garrett, 6 —o, 6—o, 6 —3. Anderson and Peach beat Wallaco and Robson, 6 —l, 6—3, 6 —l. Ollivier and Miss Lloyd beat Breckenridge and Miss Breckenridge, 6—i. 6—o. Robson displayed excellent form, scoring mainly by hot drying.
