A very pleasant challenge match between members of the Civil Sereice Club and the AVellington AAforkmg Men’s Club was held at the , latter s club’s room on Thursday evening. Seven tables were engiged playing four-handed euchre, and five players from each club played for the honours at snooker. In each there was, keen competition, the horde club proving the winners by .4 to 3 in the euchre, and by 3 to 2 in the snooker. Air. P. Jackson and Mr. AVhitehorn secured wins fo~ the Civil Service Club, and Afessrs. Teague, AA’illmot, and H. Esau for the'home club. At the conclusion ot tho contest Air. Ballard, president of tho Working Men’s Club, expressed the pleasure his club felt in entertaining their visitors. Ho hoped that further contests would be arranged and that tho existing good feeling and club spirit, which these matches engendered would bo encouraged, and maintained. Mr. P. Jackson (president of the Civil Service Club) responded on 'behalf of tho visitors. Tic congratulated the Working Men’s Club on the splendid equipment and accommodation of their chib rooms and on tho fine sporting spirit and good plnv that was shown. On behalf of the Civil Service Club he issued a cordial invitation for a return match intheir club rooms. ’Air. E. Jones (euchre), and A. H. Ciaig (billiards), acted as supervisors.
