MR. F. K. REEVES

Journalists throughout New Zealand will regret to learn of the death at noon yesterday of Mr. Frederick K. Reeves, a Pressman of excellent capacity, who for many years has been associated with journalism in Wellington. The late Mr. Reeves was a native of Oxford, in England, and first came into touch with newspaper life through his father, who wac. the editor of a panor in the Old Country. The late Mr. Reeves obtained a post on a north-east suburban London paper, where he got a good grounding in the essentials of daily journalism. When 25 years of age he decided to come, out to New Zealand, and landing in Wellington, he ioined the “New Zea’and Times” staff, becoming that paper’s representative in the Parliamentary Press Gallery. Subsequently he was tempted to Gisborne by an appointment on the “Poverty Bay Herald.” but after a term there returned to the “Times” in Wellington. In 1901 he was appointed parliamentary representative to the “Evening Peat,” a nosition he filled with infinite credit. .After severing a long connection with the “Post” some eighteen months ago. he served Mr. T. M. Wi’ford as private secretary. Widespread sympathy will he _ felt n’ith his nndow and family, comprising Messrs. F ri c J. Reeves, MJ St. T.eofer H. Reeves. Fergus TC. Reeves, Masters Mnnrice W. and Philippe.A. M. Reeves. and the Misses Maisie and Peggy Reeves.

Reference was made at the annual meeting of the Wellington Football Association, held last night, to the death of Mr. Reeves. Mr. A. E. Wells, tho chairman, mentioned the benefits Association football had received from tho writings of Mr. Reeves. A vote of sympathy to tho family and relatives .was passed, the delegates standing in silence.
