A COUNTER-TREATY
BEING DRAFTED BY THE TURKS FOR PRESENTATION TO ALLIES BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. —CORYBIGHT. Paris, January 9. The “Petit Parisien’s” Lausanne correspondent says that the Turks are drafting a counter-treaty, which will be handed to the Allies after they have completed theirs. Since tho failure at Paris the Turks are considering the desirability of making separate treaties with the States represented at the conference. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. KEMALIST CALL TO ARMS FOREIGNERS MUST PAY TO GAIN EXEMPTION (Rec. January 10, 7.20 p.m.) ’ Athens, January 9. A Kemalist proclamation issued at Adrianople calls on all Mussulmans between the ages or 20 and 48 to prepare to serve in the Army. Foreign subjects must pay 300 to 900 Turkish pounds to gain exemption-—Aus.-N.Z-Cable Assn. BRITISH BATTLESHIPS CONCENTRATING IN TURKISH WATERS Malta, January 9. H.M.S. Ajax, after landing the exSultan of Turkey, will proceed to Constantinople. Excepting tho Marlborough, which is undergoing a short refit here, and the Emperor of India, the whole Mediterranean Battleship Fleet, together with the Maldva and the Revenge, from tho Atlantic Fleet, will be concentrated in Turkish waters. Washington, January 9. Senator Williams has introduced a Rill authorising the immigration of 100.090 Armenian refugees, of whom 25 per cent, would bo manors.''in to the United States under bond.
