A considerable revolution in steamship travel is expected if tho forthcoming trials of the first motor passenger liner built prove successful. These trials will be anade into. few days with the vessel Domala, which has been constructed at the Clyde for the British India Line, to ply between London and Calcutta. The gross tonnage is 9000. The combined horse-power of the motors is 4660, giving a speed of thirteen knots on a fuel consumption of 16 tons of oil daily. It is estimated that there will be a substantial saving' in running costs compared with the use of coal.—Reuter.
