STAFF PICNICS

L. T. WATKINS, LTD. ’ The eighth annual picnic of the employees of L. T. Watkins. Ltd., was held at Maidstone Park on Saturday. A large number of members of the firm and their friends wore present, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. A snorts programme for adults, under the control of Messrs. Barcham, White, and Molloy, was gone through, and the children were also well provided for. After tea the prizes were presented by Mrs. Watkins. Results: —Apprentices' Race, ICO yards: Nelson. 1. L. Watkins, 1. Married Men’s Race: Kitching, 1; Simpson. 2. Thread-the-needle: Mr. and Mrs. Kent. 1. Tug-of-war: Compositors beat the rest. A relay race against A. and T. Burt’s was won by Watkins, Ltd. VICTORIA LAUNDRY PICNIC. The Victoria Laundry Co., f-td., held their annual picnic on Saturday. Over two hundred of the staff and friends were conveyed by motor to Titahi Bay. Ample provisions were provided by 1 the management. and everybody had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Valuable prizes were offered for the different events, which were very keenly contested. Tho Wellington Gas Company’s employees annual picnic was held at Maidstone Park on February 16, the weather proving ideal. Over 4CO adults and about 200 children were conveyed to the nark by special train, where a most enjoyable day's outing was spent. A capital programme of sports events was gone through.
