It is also desired, that the following hblidays' shall be observed Christmas Day, Boxing' Day, New "Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Er.ster Monday, Anniversary Day, Sovereign's Birthday, • and Anzac Day. A fortnight's holiday on full, pay on the completion of one year's service is demanded, and it is also requested That all damage done to workers clothea'wliile handling acids shall bo paid for by the employers. Mr. H. Dyson, secretary of the union, informed a Dominion reporter,yesterday that the.union had made a Tequest to the employers for a conferenco to discuss the claims, but as no roplics had been recoived to the correspondence a dispute liad been filed. "We hear a lot these days about 'pettins closer together,'" remarked Mr. Dyson, "but it seems to be only so much, talk, for,' in cases, when they are approached the employers seem to be reluctant to meet round the -table. It is lot our desire .to have matters such as these brought into court, for we consider that industrial disputes can be arranged in a satisfactory manner without takiwr this oourse of action. As far as this dispute is concerned, we hope that even at this late stage an amicable settlement will be possible."
