A British outpost, consisting of a company of Punjabis was 6udden)'.y surrounded by a superior force of Turkish Nationalists on the Ismid front, and the British commander decided : to withdraw. The Nationalist commander agreed not to hamper tho retirement, and the advance guard was allowed to pass without mishap, but the Nationalists treacherously opened fire-tin the main bedy, wounding 30 and taking an Intelligence officer prisoner, reinforcements were immediately sent to tbe assistance of the Punjabis, while n British warship kept the Nationalists at bay,- shelling their positions. It appears certain that Mustapjha Kenial was much eliagrined at tho British barring his way' to Scutari. Whether he or tho local commander ordered tho attack is not known-.—Keuter. ?
