MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the Makara County Council was held jrday, Mr. S. Bryant presiding. The plan of tho sub-division of tho Giilett estate was submitted to the council and approved. Applications from various people to build motor-boat sheds at Titahi .Bay were granted. Tho actual sites arc to be decided 011 after the applicants liavs conferred with tho council.
The application of Duggan Bros, to | establish a particular trade was grant e.:f, the Public Health Department's ro. port being favourable thereto. A letter was received from tho Publio Health Department, complaining of a nuisanco in Ngiahauranga Gorge. It was decided to send a copy of this letter to tiie police and a. copy of the council's" letter to the police to the Health Department. It was further decided to .ojl'or, <v reward Joi- information leading to liit conviction of'persons depositing rubbish r in. the gorge. ' The resignation of the ranger was accepted, and applications are to be invited for the position. The dog tax was fixed at 2s. Gd. for all dogs. The engineer's report 011 the bridges in South Karori was approved, and a complimentary letter ordered to bo sent to liim.

It was decided to transfer a portion of a closed road to the Johnsonville school authorities for the purpose of building a swimming baths, providing _ tluit they asreed to the following conditions: (1) That.' the baths bo only used by school children, ami (2) that the lxiths shall be oper. to nil children of school age without fco whose residence is within - the county or Johnsonville town district. There were several other minor conditions.
