NEW WORKS FOR PUBLIC ART GALLERY

The exhibition now open at the Art Gallery, AVhitmore Street, in aid of the blind soldiers of France, continues to attract large numbers of interested visitors. Apart from the support the public is gh}iii£T to a noble and humane cause, the public gallery has been already enriched by the acquisition of some of the very finest works in the collection. Mr. John Kirkcaldie has purchased and presented to tho gallery the original drawing by Raemaekers, which, in the opinion or the Selection Committee, stands first amongst the examples of that artist's work. The pick of the war piotures, by the celebrated French artist, L. Jonas, has been donated by Mr. G. W. Shirtcliffe, while Mr. T. S. Weston has secured for the gallery a beautiful statuette by the Italian sculptor, L. Saul. Towards the purchase" of further works for the gallery, the following additional subscriptions have been received:—L. Briscoe and Co., £21; A Supporter, £20; AY. G. Duthie, £10; Messrs. H. Ferguson, each £2 25.: Morrison and Giberd. £2; L. Tripp, £1 Is.; A Friend, £1. Additional contributions will be gratefully received by Messrs. H. M. Gore and A. Atkins, on behalf of the committee, or may be handed to the custodian of the gallery.
