ARBITRATION COURT
OPENING OF SESSIONS. The Wellington sessions of the Court of Arbitration oiiened yesterday morning. His Honour Mr. Ju3tico Stringer presided, and with him on the Bench were Mr. J. J. M'Cullough (workers' representative) and llr. TV. Scott (employers' representative. The application of the Federated Cooks and Stewards' Union for an amendment of the award was withdrawn. Application i'or amendment, of the grocers' assistants and drivers' awards was also struck out. Several parties were added to the Federated Boot Trade award. The parties in the Wellington District Carpenters and Joiners' dispute reported that they had adopted the recommendations of the Conciliation Council (as recently published). The award was to operate from .Tuly 2. In the Wellington Woollen Mill employees' dispute, another complete agreement (already published) was reported. The uward was made to operate as from May 1. JLr. G. H. Lightfoot, Inspector of Awards, applied to have a case against and Co. withdrawn. lie said that an application for interpretation covered the points in dispute. The Court made a number of fixtures for the hearing of compensation cases. Tho matter of the hotel workers' dispute, in which an agreement has been reached, will be mentioned on Thursday morning. On the sarao date, an application for interpretation of the Federated Furniture Trade award will lie heard. The Court will sit at 10 a.m. to-day.
