Marion M'Jjaughlin. an elderly woman, charged with being an idle a.nd disorderly person in thar, slip, possessed insufficient lawful means of support, ■kb.s convicted and ordered to como up lor soutjenco when called upou, provided she- cittcrs tho Mount Magdalo. Home, Chrietehurch, and remains thoro for a period of six months. A fino of 205., in default sevon days' imprisonment, was imposed on a youth named Edward Kruger. who ploadcd guilty to the theft at Blenheim of ono electric torch, value 10a. 6d., and several toy cannons, valued ait Is. 6d., the 'property of William Carr. Julius liambeu'g, charged with being drank while in charge- ot a liorso and cart i<l Kiddiford Street, was convicted end discharged. The evidence was inconclusive, and thd defendant was given tho benefit oi the doubt For insobriety. Sarah Goodwin was fined 10s., in default throe days' imprisonment. Seven first offenders were convicted and discharged. A remand to Thursday was eranted in tho case against Henry Edwards, who was charged with being drunk, and aleo wiOi the theft of one lady's handbag and contents, value Bs., the property of some person or persons unknown. William Hinton Poolc, for whom Mr. J. J. M'Grath. appeared, was charged with being drunk, also with a breach of his prohibition order. After a partial hearing the case was adjourned until to-day. MAINTENANCE OASES. Orders wero made in maintenance cases as follow:—Hugh Davis was ordered to pay 6s. per week off arrears, totalling £7 53.. in default eevon days' imprisonment. Thomas Weaver was ordered to pay 10s. per week oft arrears totalling £12 10s., in tho alternative 14 days' imprisonment. George Scan , and Joseph Dowling had their orders to pay maintenance increased by lfo. and 14a. respectively. Frederick Anderson was ordered to pay 10a. a "week in default a mouth's imprisonment. SEPARATION OIiAIMED. Daisy O'Connor, for whom Mr. A. It. Hindmareli appeared, proceeded against her husband. Patrick O'Connor, represented by Mr. 11. P. O'Leary, for a separation order and maintenance on tho croinid of alleged persistent cruelty. The case occupied a considerable amount of the time of the Oourt. several witnesses being called by both sides. The defence was a total denial of tfco allegation.
