LOWER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL
At Monday's meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council there were present: The Mayor (Mr. H. Baldwin), and Councillors Hodgins, Meldrum, Carver, Brassel, M'Dougall, Ball, Hobbs, and Olondon. Councillor Carver moved, pursuant to notice: "That the resolution passed by the council meeting of May 24, declining to acccpt a dedication of land at tha end of Rata Street bo rescinded, and that the council do now approve of and accept the dedication." An amendment by Councillor Ball that the opinion of the solicitor to the Municipal Association (Mr. T. F. Marton) be obtained, was defeated, and the motion was carried. An invitation from the Mayor of 'Wellington to tho Mayor of Lowor Hutt to attend a conference at the Town Hall on Friday, July 3, was accepted. An accompanying letter explained that at the request of the Patriotic Society a conference of Mayors and chairmen of all local bodies throughout tho district would be held to consider a proposal to federate the various Patriotic Societies and funds. The Hutt Council requested the Mayor to support the formation of a National Fund at tho conference, A special committee reported that it was satisfied with the actions of tho council's officers, and was of the opinion that Mr. Fleet had not been unfairly treated. The Recreation Ground Committee recommended that tho council's resolution of last year limiting the hours of foobtall practice be rescinded, and that the Hutt Football Club's request to use the grounds from 7 to 9 p.m. during the season for training, he granted.
