CHINESE AND OPIUM
(By Telegraph .—Press Association.) nuneain, June 29. At the Police Court to-day Ah Kcm was charged with being in possession of opium suitable for smoking, and Ah Weo was charged with smoking opium. Ah Wee had been caught in the act at Ah Kem's placo. Ah ICem, who is a lodginghouse-keepor, was fined £30, and Ah Wee £2. The attention of members of B Company (Wellington East), National Reserve, is called to the notice calling a parade at Clyde Quay School-ground at 7.30 p.m. (not 8 p.m.) on Thursday, July 1. The company will proceed to the Basiu Reserve for drill 'purposes. Full muster with rifles required. The company's drummers and buglers will bo in attendance. A festival of music and song is announced to take place at the Salvation Army Citadel, when the children from the Salvation .Army Homes and Sunday schools will take part. A unique programme of tableaux, drills, etc., lias been arranged, and Commissioner Hodder will be in command.
