SALE OF MOKAU LAND.
TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND ACRES OFFERED. (By Tolegra ph.—l'rees Association.) PalmerSton, May 7. An auction sale of tweiity-iive thousaud acres of land, being portion of tho famous Mokau Estate, was held to-day by Messrs. Abraham and Williams, on behalf of tho Mokau Coal and Estates Company,.. Ltd. There was a good attendance. Five ceclions—Nos. 16, 3, 4, 5, and 18-were sold ■under tho hammer, out of tho total ol twelve sections ottered, at prices from to per acre. One section reached the reserve, and the other four slightly passed it. The balunco of the sections did not rc-ach the reserve, which ranged from .£1 5s to .£3 10s, per acre, ontL in one instance, to .M. They were, accordingly, passed in for private ireaty. Some or theso have, sincc tho sale, been placed on offer, and tho inquiry is reported to bo active. It that tho balance will bo disposed of at an early date.
