4—_— CITY'S FIRE LOSS: .£83,803.Tho annual report of the City Fit# Brigado Superintendent (Jlr. H. Tait) was made available for publication yesterday. For tho 12 months period ended Jlarch 31, the number of calls to fires or supposed iircs was 2(U, a deprcaso of H as compared with the prcvibus year. Of these, G5 proved to be false alarm* (of which 45 were due to various causes, and 20 were maliciously given); 17 were chimney fires; 41 rubbish and gorsfc firos; and 138 actual fires. Included are fivo to tho wharves and shipping, ami 24 being out. side: the city proper. , Tho following table- show's a compart son lor the two years:—
