FIRST GEADE THIS SEASON. j The Biologist attached to tho Agricultural Department (Jlr. A. H. Cockayne) makes the following announcement in tho Journal of tho.Department;—.. "It is satisfactory to know that Sandon ryegrass of this season is of iirst-grado quality, both as regards bushel weight unci germination. Sandon ryegrass can onco again take its place among tho best types of ryegrass produced in New Zealand. Farmers aro particularly warned in buying Sandon ryegrass to insist: on having 1913 seed. There is almost certain to bo a considerable quantity of 1912 seed held, over, much of which, owing to unfavourable harvest conditions, is of such an inferior nature that its uso oven at a cheap rate is an cxpensivq proposition."
