STATEMENT BY THE FKEMJEE,

Hamilton, April 2i. Interviewed by a "Waikato Times" representative to-day on tlio future leaderslup, the "Premier said he could nut we people were looking to Mr. Ma«sey. at all. -rho Opposition hnd succeeded in discrediting the former Liberal lender, but H- by no means followed that the effects of their methods against. Sir Joseph Ward implied that the country wanted Mr. Mnss-ov to be entrusted to control the destinies of tile. Dominion. Mr. Massey's eaptainsgenerals had won many figliis in the last campaign which had been bungled by their leader.
The length of time the present Government would remain in oflicc was for the House to say. If (he present favourable feeling met with by MinisUr.s throughout the Dominion continued it would l>e reflected when Parliament met. The Premier made it quite clear that tlve Government would use no political legerdemain to secure majorities. The country was Liberal at heart, and was looking for guidance on sound, economic, progressive line?. His party met these icusonablc aspirations. There could bo no doubt of its future.
