DEPUTATION TO ME. RUSSELL. (By Tclecraph.-Prcss Association.) Auckland, April 21. When the question of the working of the anti-gambling legislation was referred to the Hon. G. \V. Uussell, under whose jurisdiction comes the issue of totalisator permits, tho Minister said the administration of the gaming \ow was one that did not come within his province. It was a matter for the Minister for Justice Mr. Russell pointed out that the findings of the Kacins Commission were to liavo effect for only one year, and that the. period expired'on July 31. Then the whole question of totalizator permits would come up for review ,by life Cabinet. Already a, large number of applications for permits for the ensuing racing year had been received by tho Department, but nothing could bo said just now as to what, would be done until the whole matter had been fully reviewed.
