Tho evening newspapers are responsible for tho statement that Moir, arrested in Melbourne for tho murder of Trcvascus, is a nephew of Mr. Carmichael, Minister for Labour in tho Now South Wales State Government.

MINISTER FOR LABOUR RESIGNS. (Rec. November 24, 0.30 a.m.) Sydney, November 23. In the State Assembly Mr. M'Goweu, tho Premier, announced that Mr. Carmichael, Minister for Labour, had decided to sever his connection with tho Ministry, much against the wish of his colleagues. After hearing what Mr. Carmichael had to say thero was no alternative but to accept. He wished to doclaro in tho most public manner that ho hoped tho severance would bo only temporary. Several members of the Opposition expressed sorrow at tho resignation.
