THE BANK BILL ATTACKED. By Telegraph—Press Association—CoDyriEht Melbourne, November 23. In tho Federal Houso of Representatives, Mr. Deakin, Leader of tho Opposition, strongly attacked tho Commonwealth Banking Bill. He said tho Ministry calculated on getting all • tho advantages and none of the disadvantages of private banking by the Bill. They would be, however, disappointed. The Bill was being hurried through because Ministers wero fearful' that tho forthcoming Labour Conference would reject tho Government proposal and adopt Mr. King O'Malloy's scheme, which would not suit tho Government. The Bill was Mr. O'Malley's schemo pasteurised. Mr. Deakin pleaded against tho Commonwealth growing rich by taking ' away banking facilities from the States. Ho moved an amendment that tho Bill bo referred to n select committee of inquiry. Mr. Fisher (Prime Minister) announced, that the Government was unablo to accept the amendment. Tho debate was adjourned. REVISION OF THE TARIFF. Melbourne, November 23. Tho Federal Minister for Trade and Customs, Mr. Tudor, promisod a Chamber of Manufacturers' deputation tjiat ho would place before Cabinet a request for revision of tho tariff with a viow to rectifying anomalies.
Mr. Tudor doclared that he ,wantod tho workers to get their share. If ho found that the wages' cost of tho articlo was less than tho duty there would bo no reduction in duties.
