Tho consignment of wild animals and wild birds, intended for the "Zoo" at Wainoni, nrrived in Christclnirch this morning from Lyltelton, nnd wcro (alien to their quarters by lorries. A great deal of interest was taken in the unloading operations, those, waloliing tho proceedings commenting ■ upon tho fierceness of tho leopards and tho figcr which snnrled and viciously cluwed whenever a hand went noar the bars of their cages. Tho animals were in j;ood condition generally hut, already, tho "Zoo" has lost oho member, a puma having succumbed from fright at tho (.ravelling. It is intended to present tho carcass to tho museum.
