CRICKET.

•WELLINGTON SOUTH CLIiB. The adjourned annual general meeting of the Wellington S'outh District Cricket Club was held in the Congregational Schoolroom, Nowtovrnj last night. Mr. P. H. Smith presided: Tho annual report showed ' that the assets exceeded the liabilities by some ,£lO, and this, taking material at a low valuation, and cutting down tho expectancy from outstanding subscriptions, nevertheless tho financial position of the club could not be regarded as being as healthy as it should be. YTho membership was too small, and toe work of running the club was left in tho hands of a very lew. Out of a total income of ■£87 tho president', vice-president, and honorary rasmbers contributed no less than i;2G 13s. Other items in tho receipts wore £i from the salo of a lounge presented by the club captain (Mr. E. If. Schuioll), il from the salo of table centres presented by tiio club's only lady member (Mrs. Parton), and £& 4s. from tho revenue of a billiard table lent by the secretary (Mr. Parton). In tho discussion on the report several members who spoke agreed that the club's financial prospects wero not bright'. Tho committee had worked as hard as any committee- could, and had run the club as economically as possibb. Tho district appeared to bo 100 small, and the club was short of playing members. Tho revenue from subscriptions of active members was some JE43, while the payments to the Cricket Association wero J;s(i, so that unless ihe club could obtain more members its financial position must always bo somewhat strained.

The report was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows :-Fresidsnt. Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P.; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Alpe, W. H. P. Barber, T. J. Bell, W. R, Bock, A. A. George, H. Kemp; club captain, Mr. G. Schmoll; commitlee, Messrs. D. Patrick, E. 11. Ward, F. A. Laws, J. Johnson, P. A. Smith, W. A. Parton, and Georgo Howe; secretary, Mr. F. Newbegin; treasurer, Mr. H. E. Burton; auditor, Mr. J. Sext'on; delegates to the association, Messrs. A. A. George, F. A. laws, nnd W. A. Parton, Mr. Parton to bo special delegate. THE KARORI CLTJE. The annual meeting of tho Karori Cricket Club was held at t'ho Parochial Hall, Karori, on Monday evening, there being only a moderate attendance. The annual report stated:—The club has done much better in the past season than in t;ho sr-ason 19fl!)-10, although having just enough members to form one team, and at limes having to play comparative outsiders. For the past season the scheme of playing one-Saturday matches was inaugur.-it'ed by the Wellington Cricket Association, and, as far as o;ir club wcro concerned; was not a brilliant, success, many of the matches not being played to a' finish, owini to lack of time. During the season the club played nineteen matches, winning ten and losing nine. Mr. E. Atkiu easily secured the batting honours with an average of 2(i.!U for 20 innings, C. Coate being second with H.-t for 22 innings,. and L. Brooker third, with 12.13 for 23 innings.

The best bowling average was also secured by Mr. K. At'kin. who collected 31 wickets at a cost of fI.S runs each, Cornish boirnr second on the list with an average of P. 5 runs per wicket for H wickols. Owii!',' In the hfavy outlay for new material, and tho lari;e amount needed for entrance fees to tho a.'socintion, the finances of the club arc not in so good a position as they might bo and, ns new material must bo obtained for tho en-

suing season, the club will hare to turn its attention to ways and means of augmenting its banking account. It is to bo hoped thnt the practice wickets will bo more largely used (ban was tho case last year. The report , was adopted. Tho following oliicors wore elected:— Patron, Mr. ,1.
