VEGETABLES UNDER GLASS.
PROFITABLE EXPEKIMENTS. Gardeners in the Hutt district have tried the experiment of growing potatoes and French beans under glass this year, and the results, it is stated, have been such as to tempt the growers to go in on a larger, scale next year. A small supply of- now ' potatoes so grown was placpd on the market several weeks ago, and. the prices realised must have made the growers wish the experiment had run into tons instead of hundredweights.- At yesterday's markets French beans grown in tho liothouso brought Is. 3Jd. per lb., but hero again tho supply is a very limited one.
