HIGH RATES FOR APT-LBS. Very high rates wero obtained for Tasmaniau apples at the Blair and Allen Streets arkets yesterday. Golden russets sold at 12s. to lis. per case; sturmcrs, lis. to 13s. Cd.; and French crabs, fls. (!d. to 10s. 9d. New Zealand appk-s brought b's. to lis. per ease, Prices for other fruits ruled ns under:—lsland oranges, 13s. to 10s. per case; Sydney oranges, 10s. to 125.; mandarin?, IDs. to 135.; lemons, ss. to Bs.; passion fruit, Gs. to Bs. dd. for half-case; pineapples, 10s. to 12s. case; Seville oranges, 7s. to 10s. each. The market was well supplied with vegetables, and prices showed a considerable decline. Choice.cauliflowers sold at Gs. fid. to 13s. per sack, cabbages 3s. to Bs., potatoes Is. 6d. per cwt., carrots 2s. Cd. to 3s. per sack, parsnips, 4s. to ss. per sack, swedes 2s. to 3s. per cwt., lettuce 2s. to 3s. per case, and pumpkins 9s. per sack. Spring vegetables, etc., were ■ keenlysought after, French beans bringing Is. 31d. par lb., tomatoes Is. per lb., rhubarb Gs. to 30s. per dozen, and cucumbers od. ■.to 10d.. each. E?gs sold at 10d. to lid. per dozen, fowls 3s. fid. to -Is. (id. per pair, ducks ss. to 6s. per pair, and fungus IJlb. ■ The' markets were filled to overflowing with spring flowers, jonquils, daffodils, narcissi, anemones, freesias,, violets, wattle, and heath all s:oing at low rates.
