> CANTERBURY PROSPECTS. The fruit-growing industry is reported to be 111 a prosperous condition in Canterbury at present. Given <1 good spring, prospects point to a bountiful season,'according to Mr. W. ,T. Courtier, Government Orchai-aist. Throughout the whole of Canterbury, it is stated, trees are bein" planted in plenty, many people making a start in fruit-growing. An Ashburton resident is planting 25 acres in peaches, aud in many ofher ca.ses areas of from 5 to 25 acres are being planted with stone fruits.
