THE HARES AND THE HOUNDS-
BKOOKLYX CLi; 3. The weekly run of the Brooklyn Harriers on Saturday was a very successful one. The club were the gnosis of 3!r. Jiakcr, and ran from his residence, Eor.a Bay, twenty members taking part. The trail led along the beach, and then up the bill and down into Gollan's Valley. Thence it led up the spur, alonj the ridge, and br.ck to Hid starting-point. The run-in was won by A. A. Oliver, with C. Murray and F. Byrne finishing second and third respectively. After the rim members sat down to afternoon tea, which the host and hostesses had kindly provided. The club captain thanked Mr. and Mrs. Baker for their hospitality on behalf of the club, and three hearty cheers were given for them. An enjoyable programme of music was then gane through. WELLINGTON CLUB. On account of the holiday (ho Wellington Club had an all-day ramble in place of tho usual Saturday afternoon run. Only seven members put in an appearance at tho appointed time and place, but what was lacking in members was made up for by the enthusiasm of those present. Town was left at ten o'clock, and the party, under (he direction of (lie captain, made for the Kaiwarra Gorge, (hence through Ngaio, across the Kaka Kauio (l?|l6it.). from the summit of which a beautiful all Voimd view was obtainable. Thence the route led down into ths Ohariu Valley, -where a halt was called for dinner. Afterwards a start was made down tho road towards Makara, tho partv proceeding theneo over the Makara Hill through Karori into town, which was reached at G p.m.
