STEADY PROCRESS.
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF NEW SOUTH WALES. The statistics of tho Presbyterian Church in .New South Wales, as printed in tho white book, indicate a steady and healthy progress. Although for some unaccountable reason a number of congregations neglected to send in returns, suliicient data aro available to show that Presbytorianism is doing well. For tho year lor which tho return was made—l9o9—there was an increase of nine churches and two manses, whilst church sittings increased by 1232. Presbyteries increased by one, charges 24, home mission charges 9, and ministers in settlor! charges 4. Tho increase in tho list of elders was 52, and deacons and managers 76. The Church membership revealed a satisfactory state of affairs. For instance, the increase in households was 282, with an increased number of persons set down at 1022. The increase in the number of communicants was tho highest for many years. On tho side of decreases the most notable were in respect of tho number attending Bible classes (youths), 309; fenialo scholars at 'Sunday schools, 123-5; an average attendance at Sunday schools, 103.
