PASTOR'S STIPENDS.
CONGREGATIONAL CENTRAL FUND. There is good newsfor tho poorly paid pastors of the Congregation Church in England. Commencing on July 1, country ministers who aro in receipt of less than £100 per year will havo their salaries raised lo that amount through the operation of the new Central Fund. Tho Congregational Union launched a scheme in 1008 for raising a fund of £250,000, tho interest of which was to bo devoted to increasing the minimum stipend to £120 per year. The success of the fund has been most encouraging. Largely through the efforts of the Revs. J. D. Jones and Silvester Home, M.P., £162,000 has been nromised up to date, and about £110,000" has been paid. This will enable the committee to make tho first advances this year., The efforts of the churches are now being devoted to raising tho balance required to complete tho effort in 1913. On the success of this will depend tho securing of tho £120 per year upon which the originators of the scheme havo set their hearts. There is a great hopefulness as to the ultimate completion of tlie fund. "It will bo a big task," said the assistant secretary, "but I think wo shall conic out all right. It means additional promises amounting to about £900 per week for tho next two years, and if wo rcaliso our expected average of £1 per member wo.shall be on tho right side."
