ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A SAD STORY. (By ToleErapK-Spocial Correspondent.) Wanganui, May 26. At the inquest on Mrs. Melville, of Wangauui East, whoso body was found in ' the ■ river yesterday, evidence was given to tho effect that she and her husband lived together on good terms, but deceased had been much worried by neighbours' idle gossip. Tho husband had to bo at work early and late, and it was suggested to her that this was only, an excuse to ciiablo him to get away to enjoy himself. Deceased's mind apparently became unhinged, and sho confided to a friend that sho had discovered a plot to tako her husband away' from her. Tho matter evidently so preyed on her mind that she determined on taking her life. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned. FOUND DEAD. Auokland, May 26. Mrs. E. A. White, bet-ween 55' and 60 years of age, was found dead in- bed at her residence in Karaugahapo Road. Sho had been in straitened circumstances. Sho purchased lysol yesterday afternoon.
