The Manufacturers' Association denies that it can afford the 15 per cent advance demanded, and declares that wages are higher there than i& any other district. SHEARERS' CONFERENCE FAILS. Sydney, May 18. Tho conferonco between pastoralists and shearers failed to agree. Court proceedings will bo resumed. RENMARK FRUIT'STRIKE.- '■ Adetaide, May 18. The Renmark fruit strike continues. Growers are doing their own harvesting, and have sustained a loss of only 21 per cent, DYNAMITE AS AN ARGUMENT. (Rec. May 19, 0.5 a.m.) Capo Town, May 18. In connection with the Johannesburg tram strike, further discovery of dynamite on tho tramlines has been made. Tho police havo effected an arrest.
