CORONATION CELEBRATIONS.
WHERE IS THE GOVERNMENT'S PROGRAMME? "It is about limo the Government brought forth a programme and stated what they intend ta do in regard to the Coronation," remarked the Mi.ycr at tho meeting of the City Council yesterday. It was necessary, Mr. Wilford continued, that some action should bo taken at once. The council had received applications for tho use of the Town Hall, >ewtown Park, and the Basin Reserve on the occasion ot tho Coronation. Unless tho Government took immediate steps it would probably find at the last minute that the council had made arrangements that would not fit in with arrangements meditated ):y tho Government. If this happened the Government would have itself to blame. On th 6 motion of Councillor Fletcher it was agreed thit the Major should be empowered to act on behalf of tho council in making arrangements with the Government in connection with the Coronation celebrations. Councillor Cohen hoped the council would not he put to nuy undue cxp.-nfe. The Mayor: "Wo won't bo foolish, councillor. Anything done, will bo quite reasonable."
