SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
THANKED BY THE BOARD. Mr. J. R. Blair, for many yeau chairman of the Wellington School Commissioners—a body whose functions, imaer lust year's legislation, havo nowbeen absorbed by the Lands Department—was accomed the thanks of the Wellington Education Board, at its meeting yesterday, for his valuable services in the past. In proposing the compliment, the. chairman of the board (.Mr. Robert Lee) eulogised the energy and disinterested enthusiasm which Mr. Blair had shown in bis work in tho service, of education.
Sir. W. C. Buchanan, M.P., seconding the motion, snid that the administrative work ,of the School Commissioners, bad been of n very difficult character. New lands had to be opened up, and roads provided, and all this in" the face.of inadequate funds. Members of the board were thoroughly satisfied that the commissioners had done all in their power in the interests of the board. The thanks of the board were also accorded to Messrs. A. W. Hogg, M.P., F. Y. Lethbridge, W. H. Field. SI.P.. and Jas. Slaekcnzio (Commissioner of Crown Lands)—the other members of the Board of Commissioners.
Sir. Hogg. SI.P.. one of the retiring commissioners., briefly replied, and referred to the unselfish work of Mr. .Blair, who, in every senso of the word, was a patriotic friend of the schools.
