CHURCH CADET CORPS.
AND THE REASON WHY. The Rev. W. Shirer addressed the pupils of St. James's Biblo Class, Newtown, last evening on the question of the formation of a senior cadet corps. In pointing out tho desirability of forming such a corps, Mr. Shirer said that all youths between the ages of fourteen and eiglitcen, under the uew territorial scheme, must servo in a senior cadet corps. In theso corps thej would meet all classes and grades of youths, and some of such a class as their parents might object to their associating with.. If they could form a corps of their own, and only admit into its ranks speh boys that they know to bo decent and respectablo irrespective of creed, would thus remove themselves from tin-': desirable associations, and, at thq same time, have their spiritual needs caterod for.
At tho conclusion of tlie address it : was decided that the Sunday School roll bo examined, with a view to ascertaining how many boys would he available, for the formation of a senior caijet , corps. The following committee was set up for the purpose;— Messrs. Brook er, M'Donald, Chappie, Johnston, and Patchett. The meeting was then ad journed until May 4.
