UNCERTIFICATED TEACHERS.
WHAT OF THEIR FUTURE? In the Wellington education district, as in other education districts in Xew Zealand, the number of uucortih'eated teachers at present in employment has become rather a problem. The inspector.", in their annual report, which has appeared in The Domision, say: ".Many of these touchers are .striving with ronuneudablq zeal, and under considerable disadvantages, to get teachers' certificate. , -, and we think that the time has now como when the board should take decided action in tho case of others who are apparently quite content to let matters drift on year after year without, making anv effort to improve their professional Ma"tus."
At yesterday's meeting of the board, a short discussion took place on the question of taking action as suggested by the. inspector?, and it was generally agreed that the. matter was one which could best be dealt with by the chairman (Sir. IJoiiert Lμ) and' the inspectors. Mr. A. W. Hogg, M.P., hoped that the beard would give every consideration to each ease, and where it was possible to transfer deserving teachers to positions convenient to the larger centres, that they might avail themselves of the greater facilities for study, he hoped that would be done
