Wedding at Levin. A wedding in which a great deal of interest' centred took place at Levin yesterday afternoon, wnen Miss Mary Agues (Queenie). M'Donald, eldest daughter'of Mr. and Mrs. J.' R. M'Donald, of "Heatherlea," Levin, was married to Mr. Peter Uland Bartholomew, eldest son of Mr. Bartholomew, of Levin., Both bride and bridegroom belong to'two of the oldest pioneer families in the listrict, and a large number of relatives and friends were present at the ceremony, which took place at the homestead, Father Cognet offi-. ciating. Quantities of flowers had bean arranged in all the rooms, and suspended from the roof of tho verandah was a large bell of white flowers and lycppodiiim, underneath which the marriage, service was performed. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a very handsome trained .dross of ivory chiffon taffetas, with yoke of silk net, and corsage trimmed with richly embroidered lace. She wore a beautifully embroidered tulle veil, fastened with' a spray of orange blossons,'and carried, a bouquet of white flowers and lycopodium. There were three bridesmaids in attendance upon her. Miss Flora M'Donald (sister of the bride and chief bridesmaid) wore a frock of-pale blue chiffon taffetas, veiled with blue ninon and trimmed with crystal embroidery. Miss Rena Bartholomew was , in blue- silk, with an , overdress of chiffon trimmed with silver embroidery; and Miss Alma Reeve, cousin of, the' bridegroom, woro a frock of blue muslin, with blue and white embroideries.' Tho two elder bridesmaids woro little Juliet caps of blue silk, with silver insertion, and clusters of forget-me-nots-at the sides, and the , third Bridesmaid a blue and silver fillet. Mr. Horace Scott attended :tho bridegroom ao best man, and Mr. Lindsay M'Donald, brother of the bride, was

groomsman. The bride s present from the bridegroom was a unique gold ■jangle in the form of a horseshoe, with platinum nails. To tho chief bridesmaid was given a gold brooch, with pearl shamrocks; to Miss Bartholomew a gold cable bangle, and to Miss Re.eyo, a handsome scarfpin; aai '~' «music«* After the ceremony, the guests were entertained at afternoon tea in a large marquee. erected!, on the-lawn, whoro, toasts were honoured, and several very' interesting speeches relating to the history and the pioneer, work done by members of the two families in tho early days of. colonial history were made. An unusual feature of' the wedding was the presence of a large number of Maoris, who had come to do honour to the bride and bridegroom, and Mr. M'Donald's hospitality was extended'to them as well. ,

The wedding, presents, which ■ were displayed in one of the rooms, included every possible 'thing that could be thought of, to say nothing of a collection of most beautiful Maori mats and baskets, from Maori friends, who hold the family at "Heatherlea" in great esteem. , . * ■

A. Keith (jim.), black costume r.nd black hat; Mrs. A. Macdonncll, black charmeuse silk, trimmed with embossed lace and a vieux rose toque; Mrs. J. RO3, tweed costume, and blue velvet hat; Miss E. Roc, brown frock and brown hat, lined with pale pink;' Mrs. M'Leavy, smart tailor-mado costume, and black and white hat; Mr 3. Stewart, black satin; Mrs.' H. Abraham, green striped coat and skirt, and .deep vieux rose'suedo hat; Mrs., Kebhell, pale lavender , Shantuns costume, white straw hat with roses; Miss Kebbell, grey striped costume, and blue hat; Miss M. Hitching, navy bluo braided costume, and blue hat 'with. Paisley trimming; Mrs. W. Field, frock of fawn-coloured cloth, with deep black velvet hem, point lacs cape, and black plumed hat; Miss Gallagher, deep amethyst costume, and green hat . with wings; Mrs. Prosser,'floral'dress and black hat. ' ' Others present were: Mrs. Thomsitt, Mrs. C. Jenkins, Major and Mrs. Liddle. Mrs. and Miss Thirkell (Wellington), Mrs. O'Dea, Mrs. E. Chalmers, Mrs. Cork, Mrs. Basil Gardner, Mrs. Blythe, Mr. Bartholomew, the Misses Stewart (2), Mrs', and Miss Bailey, Mr. Norman Kirkcaldie, Mrs. Matier, Mrs. M'Kcnzie, Mr. M'Leavy. Mr. Field. M.P., Mr. Ling, Mr. Baillev. Mr. and Mrs. Hankins, Mrs. C. K. Wilson, Mrs. Clark, and very many others. Later' in -the afternoon the bride and bridegroom left by motor-car, the bride's going-away frock being .of dark green striped cloth, with black silk facings, and a green velvet hat. lined with" vieux rose, and trimmed with a shaded wing.
