(from Our Special Correspondents.) !} FEILDINC. _ In advocating tin; passing of a resolution in favouruf the candiilature of Mr. John Cobbe, ol' l'Yilding, for the Wellington Harbour Board, at the Jlanawatu County Council, Jlr. J. G. Wilson (chairman) said that ho felt some difiidcnce in proposing a motion in face of the candidature of .Mr. Jl. S. Abraham, of Palmerston, against whom there was not a word to be said, but it was necessary that this end of tile district should have a representative, and .Mr. Cobbe was particularly suitable for the position. Jlr. Jlilo Kew, of Halcombe, left last week for London, and the Coronation. Tho Rev. AY. Rowe, who lias occupied the .Methodist pulpit here since the liev. C. JJ, lieccroi'b left, was outertaincd this week at a farewell "social," and presented with a purse of sovereigns. . The Rev. A. 15. Chappell comes to Vcilding to take charge this week, ilr. Howe goes to Otahuiiu. The death of Jlr. George Wheeler renders vacant the presidency of the New Zealand Ronmey Marsh Sheep Breeders' Association, and there is some specula! ion as to who will succeed to the office. The young men of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church have formed a Hockey Club, to take part in the Saturday contest. Tlie following have been elected officers:—Captain, Mr. K. Jl. Bartholomew; vice-captain, Jlr. G. Jl. Archibald ; secretary and treasurer, Jlr. Hector Bartholomew; committee, Messrs. William A. Jlills, Jl. Hosking, and A. Wilson. Jlr. W. (I. Pearce, the new chairman of the Oroua County Council, who wont to Wellington in connection with various county matters, reports that he had met with good success. He interviewed the engineer-in-chiof with regard to the alterations in the plans for tho bridge to be put across the Oroua River at Jlenzies Ford to make it stronger. The engineer had stated that tho wishes of the council could be carried out in their entirety. Jlr. Pearce also interviewed the Secretary to the Treasury with regard to the loan for the construction of a road through "Siberia," opening up communication with Palmcrston, and here, t-00, a successful issue is assured;
