LOSS OF THE YONGALA.
MORE WRECKAGE SIGHTED. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright (Rec. April 5, 9.35 p.m.) Brisbane, April 5. A further • considerable quantity of wreckage, supposedly from the Yongala, has been seen near Halifax Bay, to the north of Townsville. The sea is still too rough for the divers' boat to proceed to examine the surroundings of the Nares Rock for traces of the vessel. - SEARCH FOR BODIES. (Rec. April 6, 0.45 a.m.) Brisbane, April 5. As offensive smells have been reported at Palm Island, about 60 miles north of Townsville, the island will be searched for bodies from tho Yongala. NOT THE YONGALA'S LANTERN. (Rec. April 6, 0.55 a.m.) Brisbane, April 5. Experts consider that the piece of niotal found by ono of the search steamers on Nnrcs Rock, and thought to bo a portion of the Yongala's mast-head lantern, is merely the driving band of a gun shell fired at the rock by some warship using it for target practice. He leaves a wife and family.
