METHODIST CONFERENCE.
(Dγ Telegraph.—Press Association.' Christcluirch, March 7. At to-day's sitting of the Methodist Conference 'it was decided to draw the attention of church members to the fact that tho legal .name of the church is no longer contained in the word Wesleyan, but was at present the Methodist Church of Australasia in New Zealand. A committee set up to report regarding the centenary of Methodism had no recommendation to make, and pointed out that the centenary of the introduction of Christianity into' New Zealand would bo celebrated in 191-1, and .it would l>o inadvisable to have two such celebrations closa together. The report was adopted. It was decided that every five- years, .commencing in 1011, each trust board should make for its district synod a rsturn of the capital value of the properties under its control, showing the unimproved value and the value of improvements, each synod to report to conference. "A committee was set up to collect evidence retarding (he working of the Now Sentli Wales, or Nelson, or any other system of Bibb reading in schools and report to tho next conference. A motion was adopted to the effect that the time was ripe for provision being; made for the New Zealand University to grant degrees in divinity. A motion was agreed to affirming tho belief of the conference that the.Reformation was a return to Apostolic doctriiis and polity. The .invitation of Pitt Street (Auckland) to hold tlie next conference there on February 20, 1012, was accented, and, after pacing several votes of thanks, the conference roso.
