» L' MONTHLY MEETING. Tho monthly, meeting of the Wcllin'gton Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday, there being present: Tho chairman (Mr. J. G. W. Aitken), and Messrs-. J. E. Fitzgerald, Wm. Galloway, B. R. Gardiner, J. Godber, A. H. Hindmarsh, R. X C. Kirk, G. T. London, J. W. M'Eweu, D. M'Larcn, M.P., 1). Robertson, J. Smith, W. Tompsitt, and the Rev. H. Van St'avcreiu WELLINGTON HOSPITAL. A return of in-patients' fees covering the period from April 1 to December 31 showed that the total amount received was £2417 225. 9d., as against £2278 14s. lid. for tho corresponding period of the previous ycar-r-an increaso of£l3B 17s. lOd. There aro now 219-in-patients at tho hospital—l2l males and 98 females. Last year tho number for tho corresponding date was 210. ■ - ■ * Thu question oif additions to tho House Steward's residence being considered as one of urgency, it was agreed to procccd with the samo at a cost estimated not to exceed £125. Tho consent pf tho board was given to transfer of lease from Mrs. K E. Lane to Mr. W. J. Blundell, of property in Wesley Road. .... It was resolved that tho trustees of tho estate of tho late R. M. Greenfield bo allowed to surrender leaso of Lot No. 16 Clifton. Terrace, and that the Tent.of tho remainder of their.land bo reduced by £48 per annum; and further, that with the consent of the trustees of tho estate, tho board aferep to grant a. fresh lease of Lot No. lii to tho Wellington Education ' Board for tho balance of the term of present lease to tho, trustees of R. M. The. resignations, of ; 'Sister';-, Annie Evans and Nurse Scliaw wero accepted. Nurses C. 'Lanibcrt,' H. "' TempleBrown, M. E. Hobbs, A. M. Buttle, F. 11. Robertson, A. Brodie, C. D. Jenkins, K. Carter,' R. Henderson, J. 'James; and A. Holmwood, having passed the filial hospital examination as well as the State examination (Nurso La'mbcrt heading tho list of passes in tho Dominion) were appointed senior nurses on the staff. ■ V It was decided that in view of tho altered conditions, nurses on duty, at tho Infectious Diseases'. Hospital should serve for three months, instead of six weeks as hitherto.' .' • It was decided that any nurse upon resigning would be entitled to animal leave if that were due to her, but that leave,must not he cumulative. Thero was a brief discussion on this point, the contention being raised that nurses who had been unable to obtain their annual leave on account of pressure at tho hospital should be allowed their cumulative leave: It was also suggested that in view of tho physical strain imposed by the nature of their duties, nurses should bo granted a recuperative holiday every six' months'. The matter, however, was talked out.' ' OTAKI HOSPITAL AND SANA'i.'C'o a MI 1 the Otaki Hospital and | Sanatorium stated that , tho number of patients in the hospital on December . 31 last was 9 (7 males and 2 females); in the' sanatorium there were under treatment on that date 23 patients (12 males and 11 females). '. On the recommendation of the Medical .Superintendent, a proposal was adoptedvto tho effect that patients in the .Otaki .Sanatorium should bo held responsible for keeping their shelters clean. J Tho report of the Committee on ■ Charitable Aid stated that 66 out-door ' relief cases, involving assistance to 201 i persons—B7 adults and 114 children— had been dealt with.
