GRANTS AND CONCESSIONS FOR SHOOTING. PEOKIBITION OF LIQTJOB. District orders, published yesterday, state tbat "officers, warrant officers, dud non-commissioned officers. .may, .'. on. '.application (if approved), be permitted to continue in- tho Territorial Force, but not beyond tho ago for retirement as prescribed in General Regulations, 1906." In order to facilitate certain amalgamations of corps under consideration, and now- tailing place, it is announced that corps may. complete their ; complement of officers and non-commissijmed officers in tho new establishments which, were gazetted in May last. Attention is directed to Section' 10 of amending Act, Defence, 1910, whereby' Section 59 of the principal Act is amended to read as follows:— . "No person shall bring or'convey any intoxicating liquor into any camp, barracks, fort, or other place where any of the defence forces are .quartered, "stationed, or serving, or are being trained or exercised." . All members of the defence forces are hereby warned that, the said. Act now being in force, any offender is liable to the penalties named in said section. GOVERNMENT GRANTS FOR ' SHOOTING. The Government grant for the Welling* ton district for the current year for the encouragement of rifle shooting is .£IOO, open to the public, and ,£77 os. 7d. to bo apportioned in '. small prizes amongst mounted rifles, infantry, and defence cadets on the results obtained in the annual course of target practice for the year ending February 28, 1911. No special competition will bo necessary for amount of .£77 os. 7d.
