AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

WELLINGTON CENTRE. A meeting of . the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association > was hold last night,, Mi\ R. W. M'Villy presiding. A letter was received from tlio Walignnui Amateur Athletic Club, asking for a provincial championship for its meeting on December 27. Similar applications were received from the Wairarapa Club, who will hold a meeting on Boxing Day, and from ' the Manawatu Club, who will hold a meeting in February.

Mr. B. A. Guise moved that the whole of the provincial championships be held iu Wellington. This was seconded, and after discussion it was decided that the centre make application to tlio City Council for the use of the Basin Reserve on January 7 or January 14 for the purpose of running the provincial championships. ■ A deputation from tlio Port Nicholson Cycling Club waited on the meeting to ask if the centre was prepared to combine with the club on January 1. Already the City Council had granted the club the use of tho Basin Reserve on New Year's Day to hold cycle sports, and the club was anxious that tho centre should run-tho provincial championships on tho same day. It was decided to notify the deputation of tlio resolution already passed in regard 'to the championships. On tho motion of Mr. F. Crewes, it was resolved to allow tho club to place amateur handicap running, events on the programme for New Year's Day on payment of the usual permit fee. A letter was received notifying the formation of a club to be known as the Karori Amateur Athletic Club, and asking that tho club be affiliated. It wis decided to grant the application for affiliation, and to allow the new club to hold a sports meeting on the evening of November 23. Permission was given to the Wairarapa Club to hold a sports meeting on December 27, and to the Wellington Amateur Athletic. Club to hold a meeting on December 10.
