THE CRAWFORD BENEFIT.
Efforts made on behalf of the widow and children of the late Mr. W. G. Crawford, a member of the mechanical staff of The Dominion, who. was drowned off the yacht Palrotms last Christmas Day, have resulted in the payment to Mrs. Crawford of .£93, and a balance of £29 7s. 9d. still remains to be handed to her. This sum, together with amounts expected from three subscription lists not yet returned, will shortly bo paid.to Mrs. Crawford. Thanks aro especially due to the Wellington Professional Orchestra for having given benefit concerts, and to numerous other contributors to the fund. The total amount received for the fund was .£lso'l2s. 7d., made up as fallows:— Entertainment at Newtown Park, .£51.05. Gd.; concert at Town Hall, .£3B ss. M.; subscriptions, .CM t>s.; refund on Town Hall charges. .£.l 35.; collected by Mr. Bovil (Duncilin). £1 12s. od.; collected by Mr. Dalston (Christchurch), .£l7 Ss. 3d. The items of expenditure were: Advertising, £16 ss. 3d.; rent of Town Hall, .ES Bs.; cheque to Mrs. Crawford, .£93; petty expenses, .CI 11s. 7d.
