HARBOUR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Harbour Board on Wednesday was attended by the chairman (Mr. It. Metcher), the Hon. T. K. / Macdonald, M.L.C., Messrs, T. 11. Wilford, M.P., C. \V. Jones, J. G, Harkness, C. E. panicll, M. Cohen, and J. W. M'Kwnn. Payments were-authorised as follow:— Accounts,and wages, .£9410 7s. 10d.; progress payments on contracts, ,£5271 9s. (id.,- salaries for May, .£B7O 10s. 10d.; total, ,£15,582 Bs. 2d. Tho board's seal was affixed to a form of refusal to admit the claim of H. N. M'Leqd for compensation for lands at iliraniar taken by the board under the Public Works Act. The board resolved to call for tenders for the annual supplies of uniforms and uniform caps. The board resolved, on tho recommendation of a sub-committee, to revive the determined agreement with the City Council of March 25, 1909. embodying in it words making it clear that the board will, in addition to payment of an annual subsidy of iilOO, pay the actual wages of the firemen whilst engaged in extinguishing fires on the property of the board. In reply to Mr. Jones, the chairman said he would again bring up the question of the removal of tho barrieado at the entrance to tho Queen's Wharf. On the suggestion of Mr. Macdonald, the board resolved to approach the City Council with a view to obtaining a reduction in the price charged by the council for water supplied to tho "board. Mr. Cohen and Mr. Harkness said that if the council reduced the price, the hoard should reduce the price to the shipping.
